A bridal shower is a great way to spend some time bonding with family and friends. Keep in mind, no bridal shower is complete without a few slightly corny and potentially embarrassing bridal shower games! While bridal shower games are great for some laughs, they also shine the spotlight on the bride, giving her the attention and recognition she deserves as she approaches one of the most significant events in her life. For anyone planning a bridal shower, here are some games that guarantee a good time:
How well do you know your groom?
The maid of honor arranges for the groom and two other males to come to the bridal shower. Someone steps out of the room with the bride so that she doesn't know what's going on. The three men are seated and asked to roll up one pant leg above the knee. They take their shoes and socks off also. Then, the bride comes back in blindfolded and unsuspecting, and is told to identify the groom by feeling his legs and feet.
First night bedroom chatter
As the bride opens her presents, someone writes down the things she says about her gifts. After all the gifts are unwrapped, the person says, "here's what (insert bride's name) will say on the wedding night". The phrases are then read back. For example, a phrase like "where am I going to put this?" about a big vase becomes really funny when applied to a different context. The person reading should get into it and exaggerate the delivery of some of the more appropriate phrases.
Do you recall?
This game works best as a starter. Inform your guests that everyone's playing a memory game. Have the mother of the bride come out with a tray of random utensils and other small items. Do not explicitly say that the guests have to memorize the tray; just say that it's a memory game. The mother of the bride will walk around from table to table showcasing the items. She then walks out and stays in another room. When she leaves, tell everyone to grab some pen and paper and write down what the mother of the bride was wearing, not what was on the tray. The one with the most correct information about her clothes, jewelry, colors of her clothes or shoes, or and anything else they can remember wins.
Pickle pleasure
Get a big jar of whole pickles (the bigger, the better). Depending on your location, figure out a way to suspend them from a ceiling using some string. Hang them according to the height of the guests that will be participating. Each guest stands under the pickle with their hands behind their backs. Whoever can eat the most of the pickle with no hands wins.
Play dough partner
Each guest has their own container of play dough (it's not very expensive). Set a timer for 2 minutes. Each guest tries to shape their play dough into the best replication of the male genitalia, and when the timer goes off, each piece is set on the floor in the middle of the room. The bride judges the best-looking one, and awards a prize for the worst-looking one without letting anyone know before the game starts (otherwise people may intentionally make them look bad). The entire play-dough penis collection in a row on the floor is a photo opportunity not to be missed.
Quirky bridal advice
Give the guests two slips of paper, one on which to write down a problem that a married couple could run into and another slip of paper for their advice on a solution. A bridesmaid collects the papers and mixes up them up, matching random questions to random answers. It might not be advice we recommend taking, but it's definitely good for a laugh.
Pajama party
Everyone brings a brown paper bag with a pair of their favorite pajamas in it. Nobody opens the bags. It's the bride's responsibility to guess whose pajamas are whose. |
