Unique Wedding Planning Ideas

Weighing In On Your Wedding Day

All brides want to look their absolute best on their wedding day, and weight loss is often a big part of the dream of walking down the aisle looking like a princess in a fairytale. If you want to lose weight before the big day, here are our Top Ten Tips:

  1. Start your weight loss program as soon as possible. Many brides find that bridal showers and parties just before the wedding day itself can add back a little of the weight you have worked so hard to lose, so getting started early is imperative.
  2. Ensure you have a plan for weight loss. A general idea that you'll try to cut out on the amount of fat in your diet will not work unless you sit down and plan a strategy to achieve every part of your plan.
  3. Consider teaming up with a good friend, or perhaps one of your bridesmaids, on a joint weight loss program for extra support.
  4. Eat healthier foods before cutting down on the amount of food you eat. Substitute healthier versions of foods and eat more vegetables and fruits rather than prepared foods. Healthy foods ensure your skin and hair will be in great shape for your wedding – if you lose weight too quickly, both your hair and skin may suffer in appearance.
  5. Switch to sugar-free items if possible, especially with soda (try switching to bottled carbonated water).
  6. You must include exercise in your plan. You probably have looked forward to your wedding day since you were a little girl, so this is the one time in your life to be serious about a sensible exercise regimen. If sports don't appeal to you, walking is an excellent option. The combination of watching what you eat and moderate exercise will boost your weight loss.
  7. If your wedding dress is sleeveless or has a low back, consider weight training, so your arms, neck and shoulders will be trim and the line down to your waist is smooth. Start small and increase repetitions if larger weights are not an option.
  8. Purchase your wedding dress with an idea of the progress of your weight loss plan. Do not risk having to squeeze into a tight and uncomfortable dress on your special day.
  9. When you feel deprived, treat yourself to a non-food item – perhaps a movie or a new book – to reward yourself for the progress you have made.
Stick to your plan no matter what. Ask close friends to help you, but remember that even if you fall short of your goal, no one will notice as in truth, all brides glow with the happiness that comes naturally on your wedding day.
